Captain Hook

Treasure Hunts

For reading month, one of the activities was to hide something and give your child clues to find it. We have an official treasure hunt book with lots of different ideas in it. Jamie pulled it out and had several hunts with me, Aunt Lori and her dad. We hid color cards, item cards, lost and found cards, ABC cards, riddle cards, and scrambled letter cards. She was so excited. Wore me out watching her.

We have also been watching a lot of movies. One was Peter Pan. She found her pirate hat and sword. She insisted on finding hooks so she could change into her "Sunday" hook. haha She got down her hangers from the closet. She has quite an imagination.

Tracy brought us several horse movies also which she has enjoyed: Spirit, Dreamer, Black Beauty. Tracy gave me a WOW concert cd and I had church music rocking yesterday afternoon to lift my spirits.

Family relationships by Gary Chapman

Page 123 "Regardless of how crowded your schedule is there's one inescapable truth that you have to face. You make time for the things that are important to you. Priorities aren't things you talk about; they are things that you live."

This is what I am reading now. What are you reading about this week?

Update

We sold about 110 boxes of cookies. Thanks for helping us reach our goals.

I am being treated for pneumonia this week. I had a bad reaction to all my meds when they were taken together. I sometimes have sharp pains/cramps in my side. I have coughed so much I pulled the muscles between my ribs. I ended up at the dr's office again yesterday and more x-rays were taken. They changed my meds/painkillers. My sister Lori came to stay with me this weekend to keep an eye on Jamie. Going thru life in slow motion these days. Thanks for all the prayers.

Girl scout cookies

I have had a sore throat/dry cough for about a month but life marches on. We have begun to sell girl scout cookies for the first time. There are so many choices: Samoas, Thin Mints, Do-Si-Dos, All Abouts, Trefoils, Tagalongs, Sugar Free Little Brownies, and Cafe Cookies. They are $3.50 a box. If you or your friends don't have a girl scout contact, and you want cookies, please let us know. If we sell 60 boxes, she earns a patch. If we sell 100 boxes, they will earn a trip to Build A Bear Workshop to make a brownie bear.

New Year hair do

I was so sick thru the entire weekend - I missed the New Year! Poor Jamie did her best to watch movies with me curled up on the couch with a bowl handy. Her dad had to work so he taught her how to play solitaire and now she is addicted. We have been staying up later than usual and sleeping in until 8:30 - 9 am every day that it was really hard to get up this morning for school but we did it! Miracles do happen!

The day after Christmas, on James' one day off, I ran to the mall to get my bangs trimmed. The lady must have been bored as she began to "trim" my whole head and took "years" off my life as she put it. ha ha I haven't had my hair this short since my senior year in high school. Oh well - easy to take care of! Wash and go - just like I like it. Every person I walked by today did a double take and said "wow look at your hair". Noone noticed me coughing my head off.

James signed up for the family Y membership today. If I ever get thru this sickness fog, maybe we'll go swimming - the real goal! Tomorrow I'm taking mom to the dr's for a quick check before her next eye surgery on Thursday, Jan 4th. Extra prayer please! Lori offered to come and help again. It's hard to balance it all but the Lord will help me survive this year one day at a time - just like the others. I have no great goals this year - just survival! I'm cutting back on everything I can. I'm not signing up for any new classes or adventures which is a first for me! Things are changing at our church and I'm not sure what the year will bring.

Children's Museum

Wednesday, we took Angel's daughter Gab to the Children's Museum and Winter Wonderland. Jamie is growing up so fast. I have pictures of her in this chair by herself and with Sami over the years. We had so much fun. We even got Dee Dee to go to some of Winter Wonderland with us.

Gingerbread House

We had signed up to make a gingerbread house the first weekend in December with the girl scouts but we couldn't make it (due to lice). So I found a kit for Christmas and with Dad's help this week, we finally put it together. Didn't take long but we still made a memory.
