Prayer requests

Good News Club this week in Angie's backyard (cool temps and lots of kids). Vacation Bible School at Woodland Heights Baptist next week!

Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes! Jamie read 630 minutes for the readathon! Thanks for all the support!

Party

8 kids came to Angel's house Friday night for our "girl" party (plus Gavin and Ashton - who escaped the lipstick threats). We made crowns and wands. Dinner was chicken nuggets and french fries plus they ate lots of funfetti cake and strawberry cupcakes (last minute request)! We had lovely unicorn plates and placemats. We had fun playing dress up. We watched movies - Brother Bear 2 and Sky High. It was about 11 pm when they finally fell asleep. The next day Doug made everybody pancakes. I was really tired but took lots of pictures.

Castle Cake

We made a castle cake for Gabrielle and Jamie today. They helped with some of the decorations. Tomorrow is the party! We made a castle cake back in 2002 for Jamie's 3rd birthday.

Weekly update

On Satuday, we went to Michaels and attempted to make a pinwheel. Then we took a ferry ride to Nauticus with Genna from girl scouts and met Pirate Pete.

On Sunday, we went to church and picked up our shoebox scripture treasures. James made strawberry milkshakes for National Ice Cream Day!

On Monday, I went to Olive Garden for lunch with Tracy and her girls. I had seafood alfredo! Thanks to Sha for the gift certificate for my birthday. Jamie went to see Meet the Robinsons with James. I also went on an interview at GTP and I will be the part-time secretary next year. I passed my timed writing/typing test last week.
Jamie went to her piano lesson. She has a lot of songs to practice - one called Chocolate Cake. YUM!

On Tuesday, we went with Angel and her kids to see Trumpet of the Swans. Then we planned a fun girl party for the weekend. Jamie went to her 2nd free knitting class at the library. There have been a lot of thunderstorms and downpours lately. Our friend Garrett has returned from China and we took him out to dinner at Silver Diner's and stayed up late talking about his adventures.

On Wednesday, we went to the beach to pray with Angie and Angel. It was overcast but cooler. Then we took a nap. We sang some VBS songs at church.

Update

Sunday, we had a cookout with over 20 friends from our Sunday School class. It was hot but everyone brought food and we did it! The kids loved the rocking horse.

Tuesday, Jamie went to a knitting class at the library which was fun! Eventually, they will learn how to knit a hat like in the picture. (We'll see)!

Baby love

On Monday, we went to see my girlfriend Margaret and her baby Grace, who is now 4 months old. Jamie got to feed the baby and make cookies with Margaret.

Operation Christmas Child

Christmas in July!

We wrapped over 300 boxes in 4 hours this morning at church. My friend Stephanie is also sponsoring a summer read-a-thon to help pay for shipping shoeboxes and providing books for Operation Christmas Child. What a fun way to help spread the word about missions.

Busch Gardens / Fireworks

We went to Busch Gardens the night before the 4th and watched a double firework display from the bridge to Italy. It was awesome! I didn't bring my camera but I have the memory! We sat on the bridge for an hour waiting but it was worth it. It was also crowded when we left!

A week ago we went with the cousins to Busch Gardens and Dragonland. Everywhere we went I looked for little blonde boys.

Piano Lesson

When we moved into our house 3-4 years ago, there was a piano on the porch. I decided to keep it with dreams of Jamie actually playing it one day. All the kids who visit have loved banging on it for years - making music and memories. July 2nd was Jamie's first real piano lesson with Mrs. Jenni Luke from church. She stayed up late and did all her theory workbook pages including "writing" rhythm to a song. She loved practicing songs on the piano - it's all new. She is excited.
