Bread

Every time it snowed, mom made homemade bread. I make it in the bread machine now but I love the smell of it. We ate some warm bread with butter right before bed. Comfort food!

Today - SNOW

Anne saw snow today and it was cold!
Jamie and her dad made a snowman right after school. I took Anne out later for pictures.
After Jamie had changed clothes, she went to her friend's house to work on a big snowball.

After getting soaked through twice, they came over to our house for hot chocolate.

Last week

Last week was sunny and warm and we were smelling the flowers.

Tonsillitis

Anne's diagnosis is tonsillitis. All Anne's other tests were negative or normal.

High fever

Anne has had a high fever off and on all weekend. It spiked up to 105 and we went to the children's hospital emergency room but it was so busy we gave up 4 hours later and came home and went to bed. We have a dr appt this morning. No sleep again.

Board Games

On Friday night Christine came over and played board games to celebrate birthdays and spend time with her brothers. On Sunday night Michelle came over and played board games with Jamie.

Nursing Home

On Thursday we went to the nursing home with the girl scouts and played board games with some of the residents. On Saturday I went to another nursing home and met a lady and her mother from our church. We are trying to help out with Touches of Grace.

UNO - pretty colors

I suggested to Jamie to try to play with a good attitude with the cousins - so she started acting goofy - telling them Draw Two and Draw Four meant you got to get lots of pretty colors. Teresa and I were laughing the whole time. It was fun.

Gigantic Green Sunglasses

Jamie picked out these crazy big sunglasses for Timmy so we could take pictures. haha

Timmy's birthday cake

Timmy had funfetti cake for his 4th birthday party at home.

Casino Night

We went and played cards - Black Jack, Texas Hold 'Em and Roulette wheel as well as craps with our Sunday School class downtown and saw the Capitol from the balcony. James did really well; he won 2nd place with the most chips at the end of the night.

Birthday cupcakes

Our friend celebrated her 8th birthday with a party this weekend. It was a safari theme and Jamie had a Monkey - chocolate cupcake.

Chocolate fondue

My coworkers were talking about chocolate covered strawberries so I picked up some strawberries on my way home Friday night. We decided to pull out the fondue pot for the weekend and share with everyone. It was delicious.

It's all about the food

We made Valentine heart cookies and Lava cake (didn't order it from the fundraiser - found it at the store). It was so good.

Parties, Parties and more Parties

Last week I helped the classes paint the hands and feet of most of the kids in the daycare and we had a big Friendship Party at work on Thursday at noon with the teen moms and the mentoring moms. Then I drove straight to Jamie's school Valentines' Party. Only 8 out of 28 kids passed out card Valentines. (She made a Valentine box but we used it at home instead.) Most of the kids opted to bring a $5 gift and exchange it while Mrs. Fleming read a story full of left and right direction changes - there was lots of chocolate. Jamie traded a heart full of chocolate for a giant Hershey's kiss.

Friday I had training all day - computers in the morning and accreditation in the afternoon. We had a luncheon with all my coworkers to celebrate Black History Month with soul food; I made sweet potato casserole. Friday night we watched some of the Olympics Opening Ceremonies.

Saturday morning I got my hair done by Michelle. Saturday afternoon we went to Belle's 8th birthday party. Saturday night we went to a casino night sponsored by our Sunday School class. James won 2nd place (a Tshirt for Jamie).

Sunday we went to church and then attended a pizza party with our Sunday School class. Later that night we invited the cousins over to eat treats and play with the chocolate fondue pot. We played a few hands of UNO - pretty colors.

Monday we went to Aunt Teresa's house for Timmy's last minute birthday party and stayed for lunch and then a saxophone lesson. Monday night we went to Grandma Jacky's house for Uncle Charles' birthday dinner and Timmy's cake (since Charles is on a diet). It was a whirlwind weekend.

Tuesday night we went square dancing and I'm really tired so I'll try and post pictures another day or I'll never get any sleep.

Club 56

Friday night Jamie went to the big kickoff party for Club 56 - combining the 5th and 6th grade girls and boys. Lots of junk food - pizza, soda and cookies. Lots of crazy games. Jamie didn't like all of it. They asked if she wanted to enter the contest for eating a happy meal in less than a minute and she said sure - then they put it all in the blender - hamburger, fries and the sprite. Jamie would not drink it so they replaced her. She was up late until 11:30 pm so she slept in on Saturday.

Green party food

We don't watch the Super Bowl but we wanted to have the fun party food so Friday afternoon we took the kids to the grocery store. James asked a lady how to pick out good avocados and he made the guacamole dip for the 2 of us. Jamie had looked at her cookbook before we went and wanted to make limeade so we let her pick out limes. We ended up with a lot of green things - made me feel like it was St. Patrick's Day instead.

Mythbusters

Jamie and James are watching Mythbusters for science homework.

Hat

Anne is 15 months old now. She has been watching one of our favorite videos - "I feel like a Giggle" with Uncle Charles. She loves the song "What do you think of that hat?!" She has learned the word hat very well now and wants to wear her hat all the time. She also likes to do the "shhh" sign from another song. She is learning so much and loves to repeat what we say.

Saxophone

Aunt Teresa took some time out to show Jamie how to use the saxophone on Friday. Teresa used to play the sax in college. Jamie wants to try the band in middle school and we are trying to find an instrument she can play. Jamie has been very excited about it.

Science expo pics

Thanks to Aunt Christine for volunteering to share one of her many talents - drop spindle turns wool into yarn.

Last day of the readathon

Jamie has been reading nonstop as much as we let her. She is getting closer to her goal of 5,000 pages.

Uncle Charles

Uncle Charles has been on the Medifast diet for a month now. He has lost about 24 pounds. He is looking forward to sugar free jello for his birthday celebration next weekend. He has done really well.

Aunt Christine's birthday

Aunt Christine went on a cruise on the Carnival Fantasy to Mexico with her coworkers and housemates at Down Home Ranch. It was a little cold and windy but she survived. We celebrated Aunt Christine's birthday last night. She requested lasagna and pineapple upside down cake. I made her a batch of oatmeal butterscotch cookies. It was also the science expo night at Jamie's school. Jamie got a 100 on her seashell collection. Aunt Christine came and showed how to turn wool into yarn on the drop spindle. Grandma, Aunt Teresa and the boys came to look around. Lucas and Jamie saw many fun exhibits - like laser lights, roller coasters, catapults, robots, space elevator, etc. Hope to download pictures this weekend. I also got to meet Jamie's best friend Summer's mom.

Readathon update

Jamie is reading my Bobbsey Twin series now for the readathon. It will be really quiet and then she'll burst out laughing. I'm glad she is enjoying them.
