Brushy Creek Lake Park

Since we were so close to the Brushy Creek Lake Park and friends might meet us there next week for a playdate, I decided to drive by and find it. I loved the lake behind it. We were headed home and I made a Uturn at the first light. It was cool out and not too crowded even with several birthday parties going on. So I put the kids back in their suits and they played for an hour. Then we went to pick up dad from work. What a great way to end the day and month.

Pool time

We went to visit some friends. They are all growing up and getting tall. We spent a little time in the pool but it was hot out. I saw other kids jumping in and parents catching them. I wondered if Anne would do that. She loved stepping off the edge into my arms. She laughed and laughed. I made Jamie get out and grab the camera but she only took one picture and by then Anne had sat down again. Oh well.

Dancing under the Star

Finally got my camera phone downloaded. Here are the girls dancing last week to the music of Johnny Pointer and learning his beatbox method. He had all the kids get up onstage.

Autographs and Girl Scout badge

Jamie had fun collecting autographs on the back of her program. And she noticed a girl scout badge at the front door. She is getting excited about becoming a Cadette in August.

Summer children's musical . . . Pirates

The babies had fun dancing to the music. We were very fortunate to get front row seats so Anne could stand up (and run). Timmy won one of the door prizes - big wand bubbles! We loved the singing green cactus and the pirates.

Friday night . . . Music under the Star

James wanted to go and check out the Music under the Star with us this Friday so we detoured there on the way home from Seaworld. The kids liked the car 2 go! And of course the free ice cream and popsicles. We rode up and down in the elevator; they all love pushing buttons. They loved taking me to the stinky exhibit with the sulphur smell. We laughed a lot.

Seaworld dolphins

Well on Friday we went to Seaworld for 1/2 a day and I didn't take any pictures except for the dolphins. Anne loved the dolphins; she sees them every day on our shower curtain but these were moving. We spent 2 hours in the water park. Lucas and Jamie loved the splash attack. Teresa and I loved the Azul - beluga whale show. The babies slept through it and we left the camera in the stroller. Teresa took some of the show so we might see some later on her blog.

Biscuit Brothers

It's Wednesday and time for Art in the Park again. It rained a little bit. Carl the storyteller told the sun man story and out came the sun for the concert. The Biscuit Brothers were a lot of fun. We sang and clapped along. The kids loved the storyteller and we had to beg them to come and get a picture with the brothers before they left.

LBJ Library and Museum

We saw in the Austin Family magazine several historical places listed. LBJ Library has been on my list of things to find. It is also on the passport book list. I saw that it was on Red River Street; the same one that Art in the Park was on. So James drove down and found it for us since we were so close. Free parking and admission. I loved the fountain next to it. It is so much cooler by the water. There was also a special Cronkite exhibit open until January. "And That's the Way It Is . . . " was his famous line at the end of all his news broadcasts.

There was a lot of history. I liked the beautiful pink hat. I also enjoyed reading about her White House Diary - how she captured life at that moment in time. James liked the mannequin LBJ telling jokes and the fact that we were in air conditioning. James said he went there on a field trip when he was younger. Anne liked the twirling flapper girl. She was really good while we walked around. The view of Austin from the building was awesome.

Wednesday . . . Art in the Park

Ronald McDonald was one of the sponsors for the Art in the Park Day. Anne wasn't too sure about him touching her but she didn't cry. He did a simple magic trick and had the kids said the colors in Spanish. My friend from moms in touch met us there and we had fun chatting and listening to the music. Today was Beto and the Fairlanes - salsa music. We listened to some songs online before we came. She used to go to the adult outdoor concerts before she had kids. It was a little hot this morning so we didn't stay long after the concert. Jamie is swimming with her cousins today. First time swimming since she had swimmer's ear last weekend.

Missed the Train

James missed the train on the way home so we got off at the Plaza and waited in the shade for him to come on the next one.

The Big Game

There were lots of big games to play at the Children's Museum. We took turns playing Mancala, bowling, Connect four, dominoes, Jenga, chess, and checkers to name a few. I took Anne to storytime so I could rest before walking back to the train.
