Gift - Walking with God in America through the 50 states

We enjoyed looking through this photographic book. My mom had a book called Scenic Wonders of America that we all enjoyed as kids. We daydreamed about visiting all 50 states and the National Parks - starting with Hawaii!

Marti's 50th birthday party at the Painted Lady Tea Room

3 tiers of yummy foods - brownies and lemon bars, cucumber sandwiches, pimento cheese and chicken salad, on the bottom were scones - with various spreads. We need to learn how to make them; they were so yummy!

Marti enjoyed smelling her tea - Jasmine and Rose were two of the many pots of tea we sampled. It was interesting but I liked the plain tea the best.

You can't miss the Painted Lady - bright pink and purple house in the middle of Norfolk.

Marti and Lori on the porch.

We had 7 of us total on Tuesday, October 20th for tea from about 12:30-2:30. Marti, Lori, Melanie, Tracy, Beth, Colleen and Vivian. We had a good time.

We had the modern room and Marti liked this painting.

Square dancing and contests

Fake eyeballs won the contest!
Anne is the cutest baby and doggie!

We had a great time dressing up and going square dancing tonight. Jamie wore her purple princess outfit - thanks Aunt Marti and Lori. She won best overall costume for children. Anne wore a spotted dalmation suit - thanks Aunt Teresa. She won cutest child costume. Of course! I wore my fairy godmother outfit but was topped when Elvis entered the building - that was exciting and we are glad he and his wife won. But that's not all . . . we also won the Most Creative Dessert - thanks Aunt Teresa for the Family Fun magazine with great ideas. We made marshmellow eyeballs with help from Uncle Charles!

Anne and her little tambourine

This picture is for Aunt Marti - Jamie won Anne a little tambourine. haha!

Fall Fest/Haunted House

The 5th graders were in charge of planning the Haunted House this year. We originally said we could be ticket takers. Then while I was gone last week, Jamie signed up to be in the Haunted House itself. What? She thought if she was in it, she wouldn't be as scared. I signed up for the first shift so we could spend time with the cousins afterwards at the festival.
Grandma made Jamie a vampire outfit for her friend but Jamie decided to wear it first and then hand it off. She ended up hiding in a coffin in the first scene which was better than the bloody cafeteria scene they had her scheduled to be in. I stood in the dark graveyard and wished I was somewhere else. It was a long 30 minute shift. Glad that is over.

Anne is the shadows, but Jamie, Zach and Lucas' faces are shining in the light.

Zach makes a cute pumpkin. Teresa said I gave them this outfit many years ago. My sisters always gave us outfits for holidays (usually from Goodwill or Disney).

Lucas/Joseph wore his coat of many colors so it was easy to spot him as he ran from one game to the next.

He liked fishing - twice in one day! haha

The pond has water

Another reason we went to Christine's property was to see the water in the pond! yeah

The bonfire

Happy Anniversary and baby cousins at Christine's

Anne wore her I'm an Angel outfit to the woods. We were hoping she would wear it to the Fall Fest that night but it was a little too small. She is so beautiful.

Saturday was Grandma and Grandpa's anniversary. She wanted to be in nature and build a fire. So we did!

Salt Lick BBQ

We stopped by the Salt Lick BBQ to pick up a picnic lunch to take to Christine's. The guy was a whiz at chopping meat.

Turkeys and Pigs

Grandma called and invited us to go to Christine's property for a visit on Saturday. We saw turkeys and pigs as well as the goats.

Wendy's - frostys for everyone!

The kids colored a pumpkin picture and got a free frosty from Wendy's. Grandma walked them over one by one. I spotted Wendy's red hair as soon as we got there and ran over to get a picture.
