Jennifer Rothschild - bible study

I am taking a bible study on Sunday nights called Me, Myself and Lies - a thought closet makeover by Jennifer Rothschild. She also has a blog and wrote a book called Self Talk Soul Talk. She is also a great singer. http://www.selftalksoultalk.com

Free BBQ for Neighbors

Marilyn opened up her front yard to have a BBQ for all her neighbors. Our church is sponsoring events in the neighborhoods to reach others for Christ. Our common ground group came to help set up and clean up. We had 45 people total - including children - 25 were from the neighborhood. Everyone was very polite and appreciative. We were outside for about 4 hours and I got my first sunburn of the year; even after we put sunscreen on the kids and talked about it. Jamie was at a friend's house and only came at the end for clean up time with her dad; she would not have been able to stay outside that long. It is getting hot already.

New friend

Jamie met Callie through another friend, and they have been hanging out together after school for writing club. Jamie invited her to come to church on Wed nights and her brother is coming now too. Jamie is spending the night at Callie's house for the first time and I found out her mom is a nurse. Having a friend makes a big difference. Thank you God for answered prayers.

We saw this Gnome in a yard last week shortly after seeing Gnomeo & Juliet.

Old news - new glasses

The week before spring break, Jamie broke her glasses so we went to the eye specialist - no big changes and then she picked out some hot pink ones! I forgot I had these pictures on my camera phone. haha

Time well spent

Most of the week was a relaxing time with just me and my girls at home and in the backyard. No driving, no crowds! I gave my expectations and let Jamie plan our home days. We had Bible reading time, as well as fiction, music, baking, eating, swimming . . . we even did some spring cleaning and potty training. And Jamie finished her Israel country project/poster. Can't believe it's now time to go back to work and school.

Garage Sale Finds

Jamie liked shopping for deals. We found a kids' table for $5 at the neighbors. As well as books and games. Saw a little one person trampoline that can be indoors or outdoors for less than $15 at the Goodwill. We also found a hot pink party dress and high heels from a friend's yard sale.

Spring Break pool time

Spring Break Pool Time

Daddy set up the pool this week and the cousins came over to try it. The water was freezing; the toddlers liked the baby pool best. Made a memory!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We forgot to wear green in the morning and had to go home and change clothes. We went to Red Robin for dinner. Then we went to see the movie Gnome and Juliet with Marilyn and her granddaughter Kaitlyn. Thanks to Sha for the tickets and to the Littlestars for watching Anne!

Baking

Baking was on our fun list of things to do together. We made monkey bread and cookies. James even cooked a turkey and dressing. YUM!

Car Wash

We had a few days in the 80s so we washed the cars. Anne did not want to let go of the hose.

New slide

Daddy put up a new slide off the deck in the backyard. Anne loves it!

Dress up

During our down time this week, I had fun dressing up Anne and watching her fly like a butterfly. And humor me in her Green M&M outfit. Family tradition! We listened to music and danced - Good Ship Lollipop record. And we all danced to the Wii Just Dance 2 video that we borrowed from a friend.

Kites Take 2

James took the kids kite flying again. No mishaps this time!

Kites

Kites

Flying kites was funny. Except that James lost his eagle in a tree on Aunt Christine's property. Anne wanted to do it all by herself and attacked daddy with her Barbie kite. They flew it over and over - duct taped it and flew it some more. We just went and got more kites from the dollar store for the next adventure.

Horses

Horses

Aunt Christine took Jamie to see her neighbor's horses on the side of her property and across the street. Jamie loves horses.

Saturday at Aunt Christine's property

Day at Aunt Christine's property March 2011

We got a call letting us know the baby goats are being born. We got to see some about 2 weeks old and 2 days old. Just got another call saying one goat had quadruplets. WOW! It's springtime! The girls had fun collecting eggs and feeding the chickens and petting the goats.

Results

We had the nurses give Jamie 2 shots at a time and the 3rd one was done quickly after. Her right arm hurt right away and for several hours afterwards. Now the left one hurts with the tetanus shot. We stayed up late last night reading Janey's Girl.

The specialist office just called and the thyroid ultrasound just shows it is big but there are no lumps or anything unusual in it. Thanks for the prayers.

Ultrasound and shots

Jamie did really well during the thyroid ultrasound this morning. Last Tuesday morning we found out we had to go get the ultrasound done; by Tuesday afternoon God provided Jamie's good friend Aidan's mom to go with us. Her life's purpose is to help others during medical procedures. They left to go on vacation today after the test. Angela kept her distracted by looking at her son's baby pictures and talking about the country projects the kids are working on. Jamie's friend Aidan sent a message: BE BRAVE! He asked his mom if he needed to go to support Jamie but his mom said it was ok to just pray. She sprayed lavender on Jamie's sheets to keep us calm and put a hand on her shoulder while I held Jamie's hand. It went really smooth. Results in a few days. We stopped by the Kolache factory on the way home.

Jamie is more concerned about her well check and the shots she has to get this afternoon. Thanks for the prayers and keep praying.

Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day

Engineering Day

Jamie and I spent hours at UT on Saturday afternoon exploring engineering. Her favorite activities included this medieval catapult that threw water balloons at the crowd and making ships and testing them to see how long they could float with golf balls in them. We got a girl scout patch and a free necklace.!
