Final Update: James is home!

James is home now! Thanks to our many church friends/family for praying. He is not hurt just sore.

Update

James was in a car accident in the van this morning at 6:30 am. He hit a boar (hog) of all things. James was not hurt but we believe the van is totaled. He was in the middle of nowhere near Henderson/Tyler TX. AAA could not find him for a long time. It took a lot of calls to get things figured out. A friend left church early and started driving to pick James up. I've got a splitting headache. Jamie was a big help with Anne this morning. We made it to Sunday School but feel out of sorts. Why did God not answer our prayers for safe travel? Why did He provide the van and then take it away? Everything happens for a reason but I'm exhausted trying to figure it out. Now we are back to square one with no car and more debt again.

Cross Country Drive

James flew to VA tonight. He is half way there. He will be driving back cross country in the 2005 Dodge Caravan - my sister won the bid for us at the newspaper auction. It has a lot of miles on it - pray for safe travel please.

First Day of Autumn

Life is so busy with school, work, night school, homework, labs, kids, laundry, dishes, groceries, etc. Tonight Jamie's new girl club lasted until 5:30 (instead of 5 like the Green Team) so I talked to other moms. Then we were supposed to go to the music store to get another band book which has been lost somewhere along the line. But I hate interstates and rush hour traffic, so I detoured and found my quiet place - the fountain pond - by Barnes and Nobles. We got drinks - IBC Root Beer and a treat - pumpkin cheesecake to celebrate the first day of fall. The craziness will still be there tomorrow. Jamie is still doing homework but off to bed soon.

See You at the Pole

Today was See You at the Pole, a National Day of Prayer Event. We were one of the first ones there to pray. We met the young man who started it last year and who is now at Anderson High. He is part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. It made me feel good to be a part of it. I found my pamphlet from our last See You at the Pole in VA in 2007 in my Bible. I prayed it with Jamie before the kids meeting started. We will be praying for the teachers and students at MMS for the next 3 years.

Innerspace Caverns

Saturday Jamie and her dad went to Innerspace Caverns with the club 56 church group. Then they went to the Steak and Shake for lunch. I stayed home with Anne who was recovering from a double ear infection. Sunday Jim the youth group minister announced he is moving to another church.

Special Book

Cousin Lucas bought a special pop-up book for Anne from the Half Price Book store that we hung out at a lot this summer. Thank you! She loves it!

Pinata

Grandma and Grandpa had a birthday hat pinata from his work that they taped back together for the kids at family dinner.

Remembering

It's been 3 years ago that Dee Dee passed away also. Last night Jamie and I were remembering her and played the music box she left for Jamie. We cried for awhile and then sang songs to help us feel better. We will always miss her.

Memorial

Grandpa Steve asked the kids to come over for family dinner and take a few minutes to have a memorial for his dad Lester Watkins who passed away last month. He read a travelogue from many years ago when his parents came to visit the grandkids. James said he was probably about 13 and Great Grandpa Les described each child. James had a Texas drawl that strung out the word straaawberries. James was also was into rockets, astronauts, space. Great Grandpa was on a boat in World War II. There is a plaque with many medals he earned.

Hair

My coworker Angela did Anne's hair in tiny ponytails and we could see her cute baby face.

Angelica's 2nd birthday

My coworker's daughter Angelica celebrated her 2nd birthday at the daycare with us on Friday. I think her mom really likes Sponge Bob! The kids loved the yellow balloons and stickers. Anne also liked the Gogurt snack.

Friends

Several new school friends have called Jamie at home this week. One mom called this weekend and asked if we could both come over on Saturday to get to know each other better. Maddie and Jamie both love to read. Maddie came to our house today to swim. It was actually a little cool in the water.
