March = lots of cooking and good food!

Here is a partial list of food we cooked or consumed in March: lasagna, meatloaf, salisbury steak, zootoni, mexican rice, broccoli bites, fajitas, pizza, hashbrown casserole, hamburger helper -all different kinds, salmon/tuna helper, chicken parmesan, spaghetti, taco meat pies, beef stroganoff, chili/frito pies, sheperd's pie casserole-with meat one time and chicken another, little smokies or pigs in a blanket at least twice, as well as breakfast tacos (for us and for church). Desserts: brownies, cookies-chocolate chip and oatmeal butterscotch, cake, cupcakes, banana bread and cinnamon bread - from friendship starter, ice cream, sherbert (orange and lime), ice cream sandwiches just to mention a few.

Hoping James and Charles will start cooking on Tuesdays and Thursdays when they are off. We have steaks and pork chops to grill from the Angel food box still. Then back to the grocery store! Michelle and I stayed up last night looking through recipes - found at least a dozen more to try out in April! Thanks for all your help - spicing things just right, and for the hugs and encouragement girl! I couldn't do it without you!

Eric Carle books

I love borrowing books from work each week.

Kids Camp

Tonight the kids learned about keeping promises and keeping pure thoughts - (7th Commandment - not committing adultery). Melinda did a good job explaining it. I forgot my camera tonight - it has been acting up - delaying and light blinking. The kids made their own little pizzas. They had fun!

Barnes and Nobles

We enjoyed spending the afternoon with the girl cousins at Barnes and Nobles reading children's books, magazines - Family Fun had April Fools' tricks - look out; listening to music through headphones and hanging out at the cafe. What fun girl time!

Happy 1st Birthday to the Quarries Church

What a beautiful blue birthday cake for the Quarries church today! We found the birthday cupcake outfit for Anne to wear and bought her a white sweater since it was freezing!

Getting organized

I saw a 3-tiered rack at work and at a friend's house this past week to organize bottles and baby food. I couldn't find one for both so I ended up with 2 but I got to use up a gift card at Babies-R-Us. I also cleaned the kitchen counters! Yeah! Then we cooked again for hours!

Raffle - something new at T-ball

Everyone bought a raffle ticket to win something yummy! Something new to raise money for T-ball. Very exciting! It's all about the food - I mean the game. haha

T-ball has started!

T-Ball has started - Lucas is #1 and Doug is coaching again. It was a little windy but the kids had fun playing on the playground before the game. I enjoyed catching up with Teresa.

Stop and Smell the Roses

Our roses have bloomed beautifully and Jamie stops to smell the roses every time we go past them. Even though it got really cold and hailed - the roses survived.

Hail Storm

I forgot to include the pictures of the hail - James took last week - he compared it to his hand.

Mimi's Cafe - cookingwith Jazz

Jamie made honor roll and we went to Mimi's cafe to enjoy her free meal! (Last 9 weeks we went to Fazioli's) Mimi's was a delight to the eyes with all the fun jazz decorations. The food was good and plentiful at a great price. There were large muffins, fruit, along with the regular chocolate chip pancakes and eggs.

Every day's my birthday!

Marti always said Every Day's my Birthday! Life is short; celebrate! My motto was always eat dessert first - which the cousins remind me of daily. Well today we celebrated my birthday at work (a little early yes but that is ok). Because my birthday is in June, in the summer, when we are out of work - they pick a random day to celebrate. We had baked spaghetti, salad and garlic bread as well as chocolate cupcakes. It rained really hard again this morning so I did not take my camera in but took a picture of the cupcakes when I got home. They said I'm part of the Reagan day care family now. I got a really nice card and gift card from Walmart! Shopping anyone!?

Food - Taco Meat Pies

Michelle and I are working on a plan/menu for the week. We bought more tupperware and label each one after we cook with names and dates so everyone can eat later or the next day! Lots of night schedules now. It takes us a few hours to do it all and clean up but hopefully it will get easier. We both love having someone to cook with and to encourage! And we enjoy eating the same kinds of food! Yeah!

Cousin Love

Sha loves being with Anne. Jamie loves to sit in Sha's lap especially when Anne is in mine. Sha and Michelle have been a big help with the kids this week. They hung out with us at church Sunday night - kids camp - watching baby Anne and helping with snack. Monday Jamie and I went to girl scouts and I took Anne so they got a break. Tuesday night Jamie asked them to come to square dancing and they danced with Anne on the sidelines until she fell asleep. Wednesday Michelle showed me where they both work and we went grocery shopping and heard all that hail on the roof - sounded like a pool hall. Thursday Michelle and Sha went to the College and Career dinner at Ms. Courtney's house from Hillcrest Baptist Church. Trying to meet new people; of course, they loved the dogs the best.

Austin Tour

Going back to last Saturday, we only took a few pictures - mostly videotaped the tour. Here is the capitol and the Driskoll hotel. Saw Emo's on 6th street where the girls wanted to go see a band the first weekend they were here. It was packed Saturday too.

Spring - rosebuds

Found one of Jamie's dresses - full of rosebuds. I love it!
The previous owner left us rosebushes - so pretty!

Michelle

Michelle loves to cook! She made a ton of pizza for us - Jamie ate 3-4 pieces of her white sauce - alfredo cheese pizza. It was a winner!
Michelle wore her bluebonnet T-shirt today on our Austin Tour. She got it back when she stayed with us many years ago.
Michelle's favorite thing - my chaise lounge to read in. I love having Michelle here with me during the day. She is a big help. I love Sha being here too - but she works a lot!

Saturday tour - Austin Overtures

We realized spring break is almost over so we decided to use our tickets from the silent auction to take the 90-minute sightseeing tour of Austin. It was great. I took the video camera this time. Hope to go back to a few places later on with both cousins - like the art museums.

Friday hike - Westcave Preserves

Stephen was our tour guide through Westcave. He showed us many trees and plants so the girl scouts can earn a wildlife badge. They are enjoying the outdoors. There will be an open house on Saturday, March 29th - free of charge. It is open Saturdays and Sundays to the public - first 30 people.

Where was Anne?

Anne stayed with Aunt Teresa - she hung out in this bouncy chair and took a nap. Staying cool out of the sun while we were at the rodeo fair.

Michelle at the Fair - soaking up sun!

Thursday - Fair - it was a hot day!

The kids enjoyed the rides!
